- For the soaker:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup instant espresso powder
- For the icing:
- 5 egg whites
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 lb. butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup instant espresso powder
- Optional: dark chocolate shavings for decoration
