- ¼ head cabbage, shredded (about 1½ cups)

- 1 carrot, diced
- ½ chocho (chayote), peeled, pitted and diced (optional)
- 1 whole Scotch bonnet pepper (green recommended)
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 teaspoon water
