- 2 ½ tablespoons Sichuanese chili bean paste
- 1 tablespoon fermented black beans
- 2 teaspoons ground Sichuanese chiles (only for chile fiends)
- 1 cup everyday stock or chicken stock
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 2 teaspoons light soy sauce
- Salt to taste
- 4 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 6 tablespoon cold water
- ½ teaspoon ground roasted Sichuan pepper
