  • For the peperonata and putting it all together
  • 3 bell peppers (red, yellow or orange or a combination)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 ounces ( 1/4 cup) water
  • 1 tablespoon minced oregano leaves
  • 3 tablespoons thinly sliced basil leaves
