- 2 ½ tablespoons canola oil
- 1 onion
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 scallion, thinly sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 cups vegetable or chicken stock
- 1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted
- 4 tablespoons brown butter*
- handful of parsley, chives, and/or cilantro, chopped
