- 1 splash Marsala or dry sherry (optional)
- 1 or 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 1/2 cups vegetable broth
- 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
- 1 pinch cayenne
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, plus more to taste
