- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons wine (cooking wine)
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
- 1 green onion, minced (white and green part)
- 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
- FOR THE CHOW MEIN
- 14 ounces lo mein noodles (or 2 packages dry Yakisoba noodles prepared without seasoning packages)
- 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable oil)
- 7 to 8 ounces cabbage, sliced (2-3 cups sliced napa)
- 12 ounce white onion (sliced thin, large onion)
- 6 ounces celery, sliced (cut diagonally into 1/4 inch slices, 3 stalks)
