- 1/2 lb bulk pork sausage
- 5 cups water
- 1/2 lb cubed cooked chicken
- 1 can (16 oz) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can (15 oz) garbanzo beans or chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 2 medium carrots, shredded
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup dry vermouth or chicken broth
- 5 tsp chicken bouillon granules
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp dried lavender flowers , optional
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp fennel seed, crushed
- 1/2 lb bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
