- 1 tablespoon Sichuan peppercorns
- 1 tablespoon pixian doubanjiang, or fava bean paste* (optional)
- 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon chicken powder, or MSG
