  • 2 tablespoons fat (bacon fat, olive oil, butter, or schmaltz)
  • 3 carrots, peeled and chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons butter, melted then cooled, plus 2 additional tablespoons for brushing on top
