- 1⁄2 medium onion, sliced and separated into rings
- 1⁄2 cup water
- 3 inches cinnamon sticks
- 1 cup water
- 1⁄2 cup basmati rice
- 1⁄4 cup golden raisin
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, snipped
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1⁄4 cup pine nuts or 1⁄4 cup slivered almonds
